How Did You Spend Your Thanksgiving?
As
the picture below of my sister’s and my car indicates, I spent Thanksgiving
in a house full of Clinton supporters outnumbered about 4 to 1. Fortunately,
a call from my brother let me know that if I needed to take sanctuary,
the Republican wing the family was happy to have me.
Anyway as Brad noted below, John McCain spent his Thanksgiving in Iraq. This is the Senator’s seventh trip to Iraq. As the only Republican candidate to have visited the region, he shows a generosity of spirit by spending his personal time with the troops. He also shows a depth of knowledge about Iraq and foreign policy that the other candidates simply can’t have. Their experiences while admirable, don’t include spending time in Iraq, don’t include military experience, and don’t include serving on the Armed Services Committee.
My sister needled me at dinner saying, “What are you grateful for, besides John McCain?” Yet I can say I’m grateful there is a candidate that has such a wealth of experience; and I’m grateful that my sister doesn’t live in New Hampshire.
